Terra was a kept mage, hidden away with lock and key by a power-hungry man who found her crying as a baby, orphaned. The only times she was ever allowed out was when the man had a use for her and her abilities. Mostly he used her to seek out spirits of varying power, often to try to dominate them. Otherwise she was often left in a room on her own. Her only companionship was an occasional spirit that would take pity on her and keep her company for a time before leaving again.

She wasn't necessarily an unknown apostate, and when the rebellion started there was a group of mages who sought her out to free her. Frightened they may try to use her too, however, she ran off on her own and has been trying to find a place to be safe. Her knowledge of the world outside is incredibly limited, and it's proving to be a harder task than she previously anticipated.

Personality

Terra is a timid girl by nature, thanks entirely to how she was brought up. She's known freedom for only a short time, leaving her inexperienced in the ways of the world so much so that even things that are considered common knowledge are lost on her. Any attempt to discuss the current state of affairs will go straight over her head. That said, anyone showing her the slightest bit of kindness will find themselves with a companion, though she may remain a bit stand-offish.

Any time discussions of "abilities" come up, she'll turn very quiet. She realizes that her particular set of skills are a rarity and something that those who are not on the up and up would love to get their hands on. Her biggest worry is being used again, as being seen as nothing more than a tool, something to be weaponized and used against the wielder's enemies. And because of this potential within her, nothing in the world scares her more than herself. She recognizes that her attunement to spirits leaves her far more open and vulnerable to becoming an abomination than many others and sometimes wonders if maybe she shouldn't be locked away.

She's also incredibly curious. Being locked away for so long has left her with a thirst for knowing how not only the world works, but for how she works. She is her own greatest mystery and learning more about herself, about what it is that makes her tick, why she can do the things she can, is high on her list of priorities. Anyone with answers is likely to find themselves with her as a shadow.

Despite everything that has happened to her she's still a very kind and nurturing soul. Animals and children, especially, garner her attention. She may not be very physically strong, but she will still do what she can to protect those who are considered weak and unable to defend themselves. She's empathetic, able to recognize hurt and anguish in others, and wants to help in any way she can. None should have to suffer as she has.

Strengths & Weaknesses

As a medium, Terra is adept at the spirit school of magic. She might not be able to draw on the Fade as directly as a healer or someone with more learning can, but she can still borrow pretty heavily from it. A spirit bolt is one of her few offensives skills, weaker than the big attacks but she can cast it more frequently, and she's certainly better at asking a spirit for assistance than pretty much anyone else (cheater). She's still great to have along in a fight, however, as her barriers and disruptive magic are above par, but she still has room to improve.

Of course, being untrained, her magic can also get a little unwieldy. It's likely that, for a time at least, she'll need someone better at it nearby to make sure she doesn't inadvertently hurt herself or others.

Inventory

Aside from the clothes on her back, Terra has nothing of any value.

Motivation

Safety and searching for someone who can help her better understand herself. (Also Korrin's pretty nice and she works for them so they can't be all that bad, right?)
